Good Grip Training June 20, 2010 Hanahoku I have been using the Heavy Grip brand grips by Heavy Sports for training. As I was ready to move up to the 200lb Heavy Grip, I purchased the #2 Captains of Crush (rated at 195 lb) as well as the Heavy Grip 200 and 250 lb grips for comparison. The CoC website states there are differences in the pressure ratings of other grips. Though I like the Heavy Grip grips, there is definately a difference in the ratings. I am able to fully close the HG 200 about 3 reps, but I can only get the CoC # 2 near full closure. I compared the CoC #2 grip to both the HG 200 and 250lb. I would say the CoC #2 is somewhere between the HG 200 and HG 250 lb grips for pulling pressure.
Both brands are quality grips and the training principles and results of a better, stronger grip are the same. However, buyers do need to realize there is differences in the pound ratings. Both grips have knurled handles and like weight lifting free weights, your hands will get eaten up at first then toughen up with continued use. So, if you want to maintain soft hands then soak them in Palmolive dish soap. If you want to strengthen your grip and forearms, these grips are what you need.
100 lb is too easy for anyone with a decent grip. Start with 150 lb and soon you will be moving up, so you may consider buying the whole set depending on your goals.
AWESOME GRIP TRAINERS May 20, 2010 D. BASIR For those who always had problems in arm wrestling , opening certain containers , rock climbing and picking up a certain amount of weight and not being able to hold on to it THIS IS THE PRODUCT FOR YOU . Dont listen to those who have given it one star because "it hurts your hand has a bad grip" the grip is very abrasive yes but given the amount of tention some of these grips have you need a rough grip.
I have purchased 150 at first and used it so much i adjusted quickly and then went on to buy the 200 and 250 and I recently purchased the 300 . The heavier grips ( >250) are not for the feint of heart. But i 100% gurantee that these grips are the real deal.
Grip training beyond the plastic handled devices. April 12, 2010 R. Hunt (Oneonta, NY United States) I love the way the machined gnarled handles feel, although you can count on the formation of calluses.I first purchased the 200, and found it to be too difficult for a full range of motion. I next purchased the 150 and feel this is a resistance I can train with. I would not mind having a set of 100's for warm ups and multiple reps. These are great tools to keep handy in the car for quick forearm workouts.
weaker than CoC March 12, 2010 John I bought this gripper thinking it would be tougher to close than the trainer (100 lbs)of the CoC brand. Even though this product was rated for 150 lbs of resistance it was easier to close than the 100 lbs CoC. I feel ripped off, returning this as soon as I can.
Way uncomfortable for your hand!!! March 1, 2010 J. Johnson (Columbia, SC) Most uncomfortable grip I have ever used. Buying another brand, wasted my money on this and HIGHLY recommend against it. I hardly ever rate a product real low but it is just what it is. Feels like nails in your palm, don't do it.
